We want to treat everyone on St Andrew’s premises with respect as we are all children of God.
If you have concerns about a child, young person or vulnerable adult on St Andrew’s premises:
- Let the person in charge of your group know about the concern
- Keep a record of your concerns, actions what was said or done
- Contact the Safeguarding leads – Trish Lee or Catherine Dawson and / or the minister as soon as possible
While you are responding to a safeguarding concern:
- Stay calm and focused
- Never promise to keep a secret
- Do not interrupt or ask leading questions
- Avoid making comments or judgements
- Record using the person’s own words and note important dates/times
- Report to the group leader as well as safeguarding team
- Reassure the person they have done the right thing by telling you
- Do not predict the next step
The safeguarding team will then ask you to complete a report of your concerns. They will decide if it needs passing on to those in authority. - If you think it is an emergency, call the police: 999
